Unity Books and Stuff is a one of a kind, growing, local center, in Pittsboro, North Carolina, where we stock Self Help, New Age, New Thought and Metaphysical books, (new and gently used). We accept donations of gently and previously read books (Novels, Kids Books, Cookbooks and other books, happily accepted!) Our expansion (Espresso_Brazil in the back of Unity Books and Stuff is NOW OPEN!) will help to increase the book section and will soon include magazines and newspapers. Unity Books and Stuff currently has 14 local authors! You didn’t know Chatham County is a writer’s haven? Keep in touch with us for Book Signings, Discussions and Author talks.  We frequently and proudly honor our Local Authors! Click HERE to go to our associates page.

Unity Books and Stuff also consigns many local crafts and art pieces as unique gifts and treasures. Come see the work of our talented artisans like “Grandpa” who hand crafts many useful and lovely items (like footstools) from Chatham County Cedar. Sunny Wang’s semi-precious, jewelry pieces are unrivaled, a must see. Talented Emma Norris brings her gorgeous stained glass, whimsical Cards and Bookmarks to proudly sell here. Ken Mearsden’s photo art inspires all of us, with his multi-layered pieces. (How does he do that???) We have been blessed by well-known Potter, Hank Allred’s unique Coil Pottery. The turtles, snakes and mushrooms, gorgeous vases, and hearts are the talk of the town, since we opened in May ’07. Renata Lader has also been with us since May ‘07 with her unique artisan line – crocheted beaded jewelry, baskets, cards and more.  Jill Lewis’s crystal earrings are the prettiest in Chatham. Please click on Associates for a complete listing of the local artisans who display their unique wares with us.

Some of the recent specialties at Unity Books and Stuff are Webkinz, an educational pet with a secret code for the Internet, so that kids of all ages - and parents and grandparents –can interact with responsibility for the welfare of their virtual pet. For more information, go to http://www.webkinz.com .

Unity Books and Stuff also features a wide variety of Sun Catcher Crystals, especially assembled for us by April Winkler. We also feature collectible,  tumbled and raw crystals supplied to us by Lynn Hayes. The very gorgeous Fire and Light Recycled Glass from Arcata,California must be seen to be believed and appreciated. West Wind Flags are designed by a woman named France in Oregon, made in Katmandu, Nepal, and blessed by Buddhist Monks. See the garden flags flying in front of Unity Books and Stuff. They are made in the tradition of the Tibetan Prayer Flags and we have several to choose from.

Although Unity Books and Stuff is a private business, its connection to Unity Spiritual Center is clear. Unity Spiritual Center is located in Chatham County on Hamlet’s Chapel Road and holds services Sunday morning at 10:30 at the Triangle Training Center. Janice Escott, Unity books & Stuff Owner, is a member of the Board of Trustees, and the store sells Unity books, and literature. The Unity Books and Stuff Staff is very excited to announce that by August our Espresso Brazil coffee bar and lounge will be open in the back of the store. We will be serving Fair Trade, Organic Espresso, Smoothies and a variety of Organic Teas, along with a wide variety of snacks, pastries, and other goodies!! Until then stop by to inspect our progress! And we are, of course, open as usual.

Don’t forget to stop by, and check out this lovely, energy-filled respite in downtown Pittsboro.
